The seven-week workshop at Shakespeare and Company unites writers of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds as participants come together to read, write, and share. Experienced writers encourage those who have never participated in a writing workshop, while intermediate and advanced writers receive concrete feedback and editing suggestions on their work. This workshop is a great place to discover new poetry and prose, to learn about different genres and writing techniques, to meet people who love to talk about literature and writing, and to share your work. Cost : 70 euros. E-mail pariswritingworkshop@yahoo.com for details & to sign up.

Generative Writing with Jennifer K Dick, Friday the 13th Feb: 1 to 3pm. Get started, or started again. The real task of the author is to face down the white page and come away with words (to live by? To excite? To go on an adventure with? To sing?). More than that, of course, is renewing the excitement of meeting that challenge, of getting down those first lines the next time round. This 2 hour class focuses, therefore, on re-triggering the written word for you, getting your stories, poems, prose poems started, opening up your memory, introducing exciting juxtaposition into your writing using a wide variety of techniques. Open to all genres and all levels of writing, the workshop will involve writing on the spot, sharing feedback with others and trying new things. You will walk away with a few short starts you might find yourself developing later into a novel, a series of poems, a play. Perhaps you’ll even leave with a finished short prose piece. A packet of photocopies will also be supplied, to give various writing style examples (of character, keeping the writing moving forward, description /scene /setting, and various genres). This packet is designed to introduce you to new authors, perhaps some you’ll want to read a lot more of! Price 30 euros. Contact Jennifer for full details, or to sign up at fragment78@gmail.com
