Patricia Painton Scholars: Chris Vanier & Rebecca Wallace will be reading with Upstairs at Duroc poets Sarah Petlin & Mark Terrill. BIOS: Petlin, originally from NY where she pursued a life in dance, has made Paris her home since 1990. She participated in Alice Notley's writing workshop, and has been contributor and co-editor of Pharos. Her poems also appear in Van Gogh's Ear (France) &Tears in the Fence (UK). Terrill is a native Californian and ex-merchant seaman living in Europe since the early 80's. 11 July--7:00 p.m./19h00 Poetry Reading by Joshua Clover & Jorie Graham. Clover is Assoc Prof of Poetry and Poetics at U of CA, Davis, & contributes to the Village Voice & The New York Times. The Totality for Kids is his second collection of poems. His debut work, Madonna anno domini (1997), won the Walt Whitman award from the Academy of American Poets. Graham spent her youth in Italy, received an MFA from U of IA, & is the author of numerous collections of poetry: Never (HarperCollins, 2002); Swarm (2000); The Errancy (1997); The Dream of the Unified Field: Selected Poems 1974-1994, which won the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry; Materialism (1993); Region of Unlikeness (1991); The End of Beauty (1987); Erosion (1983); and Hybrids of Plants and of Ghosts (1980) Her honors include a John D. and Catherine T. Il a fait paraître Dans l’année de cet âge, 2001 ; Un monde existe, 2002 ; Le mot frère, 2004, aux éditions Champ-Vallon ; ainsi qu’un essai consacré à Pasolini, L’Evangile selon Saint Mathieu, Cahiers du Cinéma, 2003. Il a été pensionnaire à la Villa Médicis à Rome. Il est par ailleurs scénariste, acteur et danseur, notamment pour le cinéaste Sébastien Lifshitz et la chorégraphe Mathilde Monnier. Stéphane Bouquet a choisi de lire des poèmes de Robert Creeley, dont il a traduit Le Sortilège, Nous, 2006. Robert Creeley (1926-2005) est un des principaux poètes américains, membre notamment du Black Mountain College. On peut lire de Creeley en français La Fin, traduit par Jean Daive, Gallimard, 1997. To which I would like to add, another is not buying them. Help keep small poetry presses alive by supporting them—buy someone a poetry book this month as your MARCHE DE LA POESIE contribution, & support seeing your own work appear in print this way, too.
